There’s a very interesting story behind DLC Café at Soestdijk Station. It is housed in the former waiting room commissioned by Queen Emma in 1897 so she could wait for her train in complete comfort.
Soestdijk Station was the Dutch royal family’s railway station for no fewer than 90 years until 1996 when commercial companies moved into the building. Since 2011, it has almost regained its former function as a fine place to ‘wait’ as Queen Emma would have understood the term. Nowadays you can take your time to have cake and a cup of coffee or lunch. At DLC Café they serve food made with locally sourced ingredients. In fact, DLC stands for Daily Local Cooking.
Nice to know!
From 1 November, DLC Café is introducing a new weekend concept: high tea in the monumental station building from 1897 in Soestdijk.
Visitors can enjoy savoury and sweet delicacies with unlimited tea in a warm, historic setting.
The station building, which once featured a royal waiting room for Queen Regent Emma, has been completely restored and now offers a unique ambiance for gatherings. High tea is available on Saturdays and Sundays, exclusively by reservation via dlccafe.nl.
In addition to high tea, DLC Café remains the place to be for drinks, meetings and celebrations. The location is easily accessible and has parking facilities in front of the door.
