Pieter Vermeulen Museum: playing with nature!

Ready for a wild adventure? In Driehuis you will find the Pieter Vermeulen Museum: the place where you can discover, feel, search and experiment with everything that nature has to offer!

Search for animal tracks, spot birds with binoculars or come face to face with special stuffed animals.

It is a playground for your curiosity! No boring display cases, but you can feel, try and discover for yourself how our nature works. And that is exactly why this museum was named the most child-friendly museum in the Netherlands in 2016!

In this museum, you're actually allowed to touch everything!

In addition to the permanent collection, full of animals, plants and fossils, the museum also organises exciting treasure hunts and workshops. Calling all detectives, nature is calling!

Young and old have been able to enjoy these natural history collections for more than 70 years. The largest collection comes from Frits Vermeulen, who worked as a head teacher at a primary school for many years. The residents of Velsen were allowed to receive the collections, on the condition that it would benefit the youth and that the museum would be named after his father. That's right... Pieter!
